What is a ledger balance?

A ledger balance represents the total amount of money in an account at a specific point in time. It's the running tally of all credits (deposits) and debits (withdrawals) that have been posted to the account. This differs from the available balance, which factors in pending transactions that haven't yet cleared. The ledger balance is a key component in account reconciliation processes.
